Modern Slavery Policy

Sunnybank Plastering Ltd is committed to tackling modern slavery in relation to every aspect of its business activities by understanding modern slavery risks and ensuring that there is no modern slavery in our own business and, as far as practicable, in our supply chains.

Our organisation is based in the UK and operates in the UK and does not operate in any country that is identified as a high risk in relation to modern slavery.  As a specialist plastering contractor employing locally based personnel and labour only sub-contractors, all UK based, we consider our potential for encountering modern slavery very low but not zero.

All personnel are employed on standard terms and conditions and our recruitment and employment procedures, which form part of our accredited quality management system, ensure that all related legislation is taken into account.  Labour only sub-contractors are assessed and appointed through our health and safety and quality management processes which ensure that they provide evidence of their tax status and competence cards for individuals. Induction training given to each individual confirms the company policies including this one.

Contracts Managers and the Health and Safety Co-ordinator are made aware, by the Directors, of the potential for modern slavery issues and instructed to be vigilant for any potential indication of a sub-contractor employing anyone on site on anything other than a voluntary and paid basis and of their responsibility to report any concerns to the company’s directors.  This awareness will also be extended to company personnel via documented tool box talks.  Any concerns will be formally recorded and the company’s Directors shall investigate thoroughly and take the appropriate action, including informing the police.

This modern slavery policy will be explained to all personnel as part of their company induction and be displayed in the company offices.  It will be reviewed at the highest level in the organisation annually, and additionally in response to any identified issue in relation to compliance and in response to any changes in legislation, guidance of published best practice.
